Bacon Fun part Nine

Can you believe I'm on #9? I can't. I've never done a search for bacon recipes. I just find these.
Bacon Candy. A twist on the classic baked bacon and brown sugar recipe. This one adds chili powder. This is one I should make.
If you've made brown sugar bacon, try adding some to your waffles for Brown Sugar Bacon Waffles. Do you prefer pancakes? No problem.
Bacon Pancakes. Bacon pancakes still not enough? I've got that covered too.
Remember Elvis's fools gold sandwich discussed at the tail end of Bacon fun part Seven? Well, here is is in a pancake stack version.
Peanut Butter and Bacon Sandwiches. 'Cause jelly is for losers.
A Bacon Potato. Peal a potato and slice it almost through every 1/4 inch. Put a piece of bacon between every slice and bake. How can something seem so right and so wrong at the same time?
Onion, Apple and Bacon Tart. Uncredited players include Parmesan, Gruyere, and smoked paprika.
Want something sweet? How about a Buttermilk Bacon Praline?
And lastly, I know you're not supposed to be inspired by This Is Why You're Fat, but I kind of want a Bacon Onion Ring.

Bacon Fun, Part Seven

It all started when I found some fun bacon cups and curls on notmartha.org. Then I started adding links to unusual bacon recipes as I came across them while surfing the net. Innocent fun... Bacon fun. (search bacon fun on my blog for more entries) Well, the bacon fun has come home to roost. The above picture is my Christmas present from my sister and brother-in-law. They both have a great sense of humor. The verdict? Bacon salt is kind of good, kind of weird. It's pretty good on eggs. I don't recommend it, but its not terrible. Oh, and they also got me this...

Who wouldn't need six kinds of bacon salt?Oh, and they also got me this...

Baconaise. Again, kind of good, kind of weird. It doesn't taste like bacon exactly. It's reminiscent of bacon flavor, but not bacon flavor. I've had this flavor before, but I can't place it for sure. If I were to guess, I'd guess it was a dip for a bloomin' onion somewhere. I'll eat it until it's gone, but I probably won't get more. My mom likes baconaise and barbecue sauce on her burgers. Oh, and they also got me this...
Bacon flavored chapstick. Just what I needed. Teaching my dog not to lick my face has just become a bit more difficult. What does it taste like? Liquid smoke chapstick.

Want more bacon fun? How about a chocolate bacon eclair? Or maybe a bacon chocolate cupcake with carmel frosting? Who could resist Elvis's Bacon Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich (Fool's Gold Loaf) from the Coachman Hotel at the annual Parks Elvis Festival ?

Bacon Fun, part six

Oh, the fun you can have with bacon.

Here is a post discussing the techniques for adding bacon to rice crispy bars. The bacon brittle discussed at the beginning sounds promising.

Bacon fun, part five

My brother in law sent me the link to bacon chocolate chip cookies with maple cinnamon glaze on Ooh you tasty little things (a.k.a. Never bashful with butter). Muffin on Ooh you tasty little things also has links to Voodoo Doughnut in Portland Oregon which has a maple glazed bacon doughnut (scroll down for a picture). Voodoo Doughnut also has a Butterfingers doughnut, an Oreo cookie doughnut, and a coco puffs doughnut. She has a link to the Vosges Mo's Bacon Bar, a bacon chocolate bar. They also have a ginger/wasabi (Japanese horseradish served with sushi)/sesame seed dark chocolate bar, a sweet Indian curry/coconut milk chocolate bar and a fire candy bar that is a chipotle chillies/Ceylon cinnamon dark chocolate bar.

Bacon fun, part four

I'm not looking for weird bacon recipes, I swear. I just seem to happen across them. I'll stumble across them less often with the demise of tastespotting (next post). Darn it. Anyway...
Bacon in a can. Take it camping with your whipped cream can pancakes. :)
Bacon ice cream is showing up everywhere. It was just on the top chef finale. It must be pretty good if it keeps showing up. Or, it might just be that people are in love the concept. I read the recipe, and it is butter pecan with candied bacon replacing the pecans. (Well, a few twists on a butter pecan ice cream base.) In fact bacon ice cream has become so popular that people are adding their twists to bacon ice cream. Dark chocolate bacon crunch sorbet anyone? No. Well you must not be in an ice cream mood.
How about some chocolate covered bacon (You have to click on that link for the picture. It's quite odd.) or bacon toffee perhaps?
